Samples

Below are example prompts for common SqlBak MCP workflows.

Creating a backup job

Create a backup job with backups of all databases on server-name and upload them to AWS S3.

Copying a backup job / creating a backup job by analogy

I connected a new server to SqlBak. Add the same backup job to it as on the previously connected servers.

Bulk editing backup jobs

Changing retention in backup jobs for all storages

Find all backup jobs and update retention so full backups are kept for 14 days in every configured storage.

Adding failure notifications for all backup jobs

Add sending an email to email@address.com on failure for all backup jobs.

Changing the schedule for all jobs

Set daily backup runs at 2 AM for all backup jobs.

Help with analyzing an error in a backup job

Why did the last error happen in the backup job?

Creating a maintenance job

Create a maintenance job for rebuilding indexes on server-name. Schedule it for 4 AM.

Installing the agent

Install the SqlBak backup agent on server-name. Connect it to the MySQL database. Take the credentials from the file /home/user/credentials.csv.

This will work if your MCP agent can execute instructions on your servers. SqlBak MCP only returns the installation instructions.

Starting a backup restore

Restore the backup of database test-db from server prod to server test under the name copy-test-db.

Important note: restore is a guided flow. The AI should not silently start it without explicit confirmation.
