Logging settings

Logging settings

This command allows you to manage the application’s logging settings. Running the command without parameters will display the current logging configuration:

sqlbak app-log

To update logging settings:

1. Save the current log settings to a file using:

sqlbak app-log --save-settings-to-file=/path/to/log-settings.json

The settings file will look like this:

{
    "log_level": "Information"
}

2. Edit the file and set the log_level to one of the following values:

    • Trace – Maximum logging level. Enabling this may significantly slow down the application and generate large log files.
      ⚠️Note: Sensitive information, such as credentials, may be included in the log when this level is enabled.
    • Information   – A general logging level that shows what the application is doing. This is the level we typically ask you to use when contacting support.
    • Warning – Only warnings and errors are logged.
    • Error – Only errors are logged.

3. After editing the file, apply the changes using:

sqlbak app-log --load-from-file=/path/to/log-settings.json

4. To reset to default log settings:

sqlbak app-log --reset
