How to set up Slack notifications in SqlBak
SqlBak allows you to receive backup notifications not only via email but also directly in Slack. Follow the steps below to integrate Slack notifications:
- First, open Slack and navigate to the channel where you want to receive notifications.
- Right-click on your channel’s name and select View channel details to open the channel settings window. Then, navigate to the Integrations tab and click Add an App:

- On the opened window, search for Incoming WebHooks and select it:

- Click the Configuration button to open the WebHooks configuration page.

- Click Add to Slack to start the setup:

- On the opened page, under Post to Channel section, choose your desired channel and click Add Incoming WebHooks Integration.

- You will now see your WebHook URL—copy this for use in SqlBak.

- Go to the SqlBak notification channels page, click on the Add notification channel button, and select Slack from the dropdown menu.

- Copy the WebHook URL from Step 7 and paste it into the WebHook URL box in the opened dialog. Once the settings are made, test them and save the settings.

How to add Slack notifications to a backup job
To receive notifications on your backup jobs (e.g., when a job fails, succeeds, or runs longer than expected), follow these steps:
1. Set up a Notification Channel in the “Notifications” page.
2. Open the backup job settings and toggle on the Notifications option. Add the notification types you want:
-
-
Add Success Notification – get notified when the backup job succeeds.
-
Add Failure Notification – get notified if the backup job fails.
-
Add Too Long Notification – get notified if the job runs longer than expected.
-
3. After choosing a notification type, you’ll be prompted to select a notification channel.
If you haven’t set up a channel yet, you can create a new one using the Add New Channel button.
4. Once you’ve selected the channel, it will appear in your backup job settings. You can set the notification frequency (for example, send no more than once every 5 minutes).
